This portrait emerged from an encounter with a village chief in Swaziland, who graciously agreed to be sketched before the painting began. More than a likeness, the work captures a moment of cultural exchange and human connection. The warmth of his hospitality, his family’s openness and the artist’s shared experience playing with children beneath the watchful mountains, was a meaningful creative experience.
